Senior Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of our company and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting. This is a key role within our organization, and we are looking for a detail-oriented professional who can contribute to the success of our finance department.

Duties:

• Perform payroll functions including weekly remittance of payroll/source deductions.
• Perform account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
• HST calculations and filing of returns as well as making payments.
• Assists (when needed) with the process of new and used vehicles.
• Conduct financial audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Monthly HAPSET calculation and payments.
• Bank reconciliations.
• Monthly flooring interest calculation and payments.
• Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.
• Assist in the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
• Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff.
• Monthly reconciliations and review of schedules.
• Assist in preparing year end audit working papers.
• Assist with other accounting functions and duties as needed or on a required basis.
• Assist with the training of new as well as current staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (or an equivalent amount of experience)
• Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or similar role within an Automobile dealership.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures
• Experience with CDK software
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
